10.07.2020

Today, Nespresso announced the three winners of the global contest of the fifth edition of its vertical short film contest Nespresso Talents. Originally supposed to take place during the Cannes Film Festival, Nespresso orchestrated an online award ceremony. To congratulate them for their respective achievement, each winner received an invitation to the 2021 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, a mentoring session with cinema experts and a monetary prize.

This year’s “Virtuous Circles” theme certainly inspired contestants from all around the world with a total of 743 short films submitted coming from 47 countries. The program was also amplified through local competitions in 11 countries. “Fostering creative talents and supporting people who think differently is at the core of the Nespresso Talents platform. Despite these challenging times, we are delighted to see so many talented filmmakers joined the movement and shared their creations, almost doubling this year’s participation, compared to our 2019 edition.” explains Anna Lundstrom Chief Brand Officer at Nespresso.

An all-star, diverse, jury
The three winners were selected by the four members of Nespresso Talents’ international jury: Film and Televison Actor Mark Chao, General Coordinator of Cannes’ Semaine De La Critique Rémi Bonhomme, Award Winning Photographer Rena Effendi and World Explorer and Adventurer Mike Horn. From the 15 short-listed films, the jury deliberated to ultimately come to a consensus on the three winning productions.
